Spring has Sprung

Birds are chirping, wattle is blaring. The daffodils are smiling in the sun and the fruit blossoms are budding. The winter months are gone and the morning frosts are slowly subsiding. The magpies and currawongs are fighting over "turf" and I feel compelled to embody Paula Duncan on the Spray and wipe commercials, turn my house upside down and clean the hell out of it.

Yes folks, Spring is here. And it's LOVELY

And so we begin....

I suppose I should start with a bit of an introduction to you all.

My name is Alisa and I'm an Artist based in the lovely town of Rylstone NSW. As mentioned before, I run my own gallery space called Mon Alisa Design. Here is where I spend my days making beautiful jewellery, hand sewn "tweets" and painting whatever my heart whispers.

I'm a Sydney girl originally. It's funny when I look back on my days growing up in the inner city (getting up to plenty of mischief) I couldn't of imagined that my heart belonged to the country. The only time we spent outside of Sydney were during school holidays visiting my Grandparents in Tumut and on occasion, my Great Uncle Joe's farm in Junee.

I don't remember feeling drawn to the landscape or the lifestyle. Infact I think I may have felt intimidated by it all. It was so unknown to me. I missed the old fig tree by the harbour that I'd climb everyday. The smell of the water hitting the sandstone walls, where the crabs would scurry as my friend and I tried to collect them in jam jars. I was a child of habit and familiarity.

It was only when I married and had children that the prospect of moving out of Sydney became apparent. Personal issues came to a head, and I needed peace. So we moved away for a new life.

We made the move on my birthday, over 5 years ago now. At the time I remember feeling both excited and scared about our new venture. As it happens it was the best thing we could have done. I thank God every day for this little slice of heaven and the long awaited peace that it has given me. I'm connected to myself again and it's wonderful.

So, that's my story. Well, part of it anyway.

My love of this community is the inspiration for this blog. Hopefully our individual stories and shared experiences inspire you too. There's so much to share :)

A beautiful place to live

Hi everyone! this here little blog is my way of extending to you the beauty of the town in which I live and it's surrounds. To showcase it's characters, businesses and events and the exquisite landscapes within.
I'm the director of "Mon Alisa Design", a business that encapsulates all facets of my work. I share a shop space on Louee Street Rylstone with my darling Hubby, who owns "Rylstone Home Brew" (it's hilarious really, one side is beer and the other decorative pretties!)

So please join me as I share with you the things I love about my town Rylstone, and the lovely places that surround .....Kandos, Lue, Glen Alice, Glen Davis, Clandulla, Ilford, Olinda and Bogee. Gods country :)
